Definitions
Direct Costs: Direct costs are defined as costs that will appear on your student invoice.
Indirect Costs: Indirect costs are expenses you may incur while attending MIAD. These costs will vary, but should be considered as you budget your expenses. The costs in the table below are estimates to help you plan.
Please note that financial aid can be used for both direct and indirect costs.

Housing
Exceptional student housing is available at Two50Two, MIAD’s residence hall. Located directly across the street from MIAD’s main academic building, Two50Two offers apartment-style suites exclusively for 91fansstudents.
- Double-occupancy room* (with shared bath) cost for the 2024-25 academic year: $8,755 (includes all utilities) *based on availability
- Triple-occupancy room (with shared bath) cost for the 2024-25 academic year: $7,075 (includes all utilities)
91fansrequires all full-time students to live at Two50Two, unless the student meets one of the following criteria: has a permanent residence within 45 miles of campus; is at least 21 years of age; is married; is a custodial parent; is a junior or senior; or has special needs that cannot be met at Two50Two. Food
Although MIAD’s residence hall offers fully equipped kitchens, 91fansalso provides an on-campus café – a gathering place for all students. 91fansrequires a minimum $1,840 annual meal plan for all students living on campus. The annual meal plan includes 12 meals a week, and a $100 declining balance account each semester; there are a total of 17 meal times per week (Monday – Friday breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch Saturday and Sunday) from which a student can choose any 12. You may choose to add additional funds to your declining balance account, or purchase food independently to prepare in your apartment kitchen. The minimum meal plan is a direct cost paid to 91fansfor residential students with a $920 allotment applied to each semester.
Books and Supplies
Students receive book and supply lists from their instructors during the first week of classes. The books and supplies needed vary greatly based on your chosen major courses.
Individual kits are charged based on enrollment in certain First Year Experience (FYE) courses. Costs for FYE are listed here:
- FYE Mini Core Kit – $130 (charged in student’s first semester)
- Course FYE 100 – $235 (charged in semester course is taken)
- Course FYE 110 – $180 (charged in semester course is taken)
Laptop
91fansrequires all students to own a laptop with required software. More information is sent to admitted students in May, or check our
Parking
Parking is available for commuting students on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $300 per semester. Parking permits can be purchased through MIAD’s Security Department. Information on parking is available online.
Part Time Students
Part-time students taking fewer than 12 credits per semester will be charged $1,396 per credit. Other fees are pro-rated based on credit load.
Summer Tuition
Summer 2024 tuition is $580 per credit plus related course fees. Costs for special travel and international opportunities vary by program.
