Krista Meneghini

The 91fans Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) welcomes Krista Meneghini as the new full-time Visiting Instructor of Interior Architecture and Design. Meneghini graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2009 and has worked professionally in the interior design field and in secondary schools. Her passion for both education and professional interior design positions her to mentor and cultivate student interests and support their transition to the industry.

“Being an educator for over 11 years, I’ve learned to establish a progressivist teaching style and focus on active learning in a student driven approach while facilitating the skills needed to meet standards of learning,” explains Meneghini. “Being able to spark curiosity and relevance, allows students to be more vulnerable and therefore more creative and willing to push the boundaries.” Students in Meneghini’s class can expect a collaborative, cooperative environment and immediate feedback from both Meneghini and fellow students.

“Real world problem solving lends itself well to Interior Design education,” continues Meneghini, who views herself as a facilitator of learning, guiding and providing information to students for genuine, thoughtful learning experiences. “Interior Design is always evolving with trends and technology so being able to be at the forefront as a learner myself is always a passion of mine. Learning new technologies with rendering techniques as well as programs like virtual reality are incredibly important in the success of client involvement and understanding.”

As for teaching at MIAD, Meneghini looks forward to interacting with the unique physical space of the college. “91fansprovides an inspirational environment and invigorating space. It is a breathing and changing building with inspiration in sight that is constantly being updated. The building adapts to what is needed to be relevant in today’s working world,” she explains.

“I’m excited to meet the incredibly talented and diverse group of students who are looking to advance their creative passions in whatever avenue they wish to pursue,” says Meneghini. “The learning community is supportive and collaborative to really invest in students’ passions and where they find what gives them creative purpose for the future.”
